Non Fiction packet

This was a very interesting read, even though the stories were no more than a few paragraphs long, they were still very descriptive and interesting.
Survivors is the story that i like the most, because even though he never comes out and says that him and his partner had AIDS you can insinuate that they do because he talks about a low T-cell count .which is one of the ways one knows that they might possibly have HIV. When Kim talks about how the father tried to beat the gay out of his son," i just find it so crazy that many people think you can change who you love,  because you cant. this also reminds me of the college football player who is being publicly humiliated by his father because he has just came out and said that he was gay.
Misdemeanors was quite catchy and funny just because we see it on TV and sometimes hear people trying to exaggerate the crime they committed so they can sound tough to others when usually there in jail for things like tickets, or like him a misdemeanor instead of a felony. because truthfully I know people who wouldn't harm a fly, but act so tough and rough.

poetry packet #2

Poetry packet number 2 was a very interesting and variety of poems, I really enjoyed the sonnets  how the Shakespearean sonnet and Dim lady sonnet were one in the same sonnet with the same style just a different languages of course Shakespeare used words like " if snow be white, why then her breast are dun;"  and mullen say " If Liquid Paper is white, her racks are institutional beige" it makes the first poem a lot easier to understand. Even though I still do not understand why he was putting her down.
Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird even though I think what I perceived the poem to be about and what it actually was about are two completely different things. I did however love the way the poem was written and styled , Personally what  I got was that there a million ways to view things and a million combinations of earthly things and everything is one but it is still all about how you view them.
but the two poems I liked were The Girls against the Giant and Dream Boogie, because both of them were able to relate to my life. Dream Boogie because one of my favorite poems is actually a dream deferred by Langston Hughes because all though the dream was not deferred there still is some undermining to it because just like that everything could be gone.

Poetry Packet #1 weekly blog 1/16

Let me start off by saying that usually I find poems understandable, but usually they are about love and or life, but I could not understand what these authors were trying to say. The language and style of writing was something that i myself was not used to I found myself turning to the online dictionary for several words. For example in the poem Where It passes, Untouchable the author used the word martyrdom and I do not know about anybody else but I have never in my entire 21 years of living never heard this word , but it is defined as the death or suffering of a martyr. Unrequited reticence just sounds so beautiful me from the poem Lens, even though when I read it I did not know what the two word meant I turned to Google yet again. Unrequited means not returned or  rewarded (in regards to a feeling like love) and reticence - reserve: the trait of being uncommunicative ; not giving more than necessary. However I did understand something , "There is so much clarity in drowning" - Ophelia, I took this as that the time in your life when everything is the clearest is when your drowning , not literally in water but just in your thoughts, your day to day activities and other things of that nature. This may not have been how the author meant it , but it is how i perceived it.
The poem that I found most confusing was Descant I did not know how it was suppose to be read, or how it the lines even went together, to me it just seemed at bit all over the place  it went from talking about people like Dr. Vacancy and Mr. No  I assume, or maybe a play on words giving human attribute to a noun i was not really sure to talking about "[black gown & cap, expiration notice impaled up on a tong]", who even knows what that means?
On the other hand even though these poems were quite confusing I can say that they have broaden my thoughts on poetry a good poem does not have to be about love or being hurt a good poem can be about anything you want it to be about, and at this point I am going to continue to read these poems until I grasp a better concept of them.

Introduction201

I always say writing is my first love, just because it is something that I love to do. It is the only place where I truly feel free, free from everything I can be anybody i want to be including myself. i have written several stories and poems but most of my stories I never finish , and I do not know why I don't.
I love academic and creative writing but , but do prefer creative writing over academic. I really want this to class help me complete my thoughts and finish a piece that I start, and also broaden my perspectives because even though i have the power to write anything I want to I tend to stick with in the same genre , and I just cant wait to read others writings.
